i feel like raunchy gets a bad rap for being in such a generally crap genre, but these dudes fucking rule. they can write retardedly catchy songs that straddle the area between nu-metal and melo-death, and somehow it works and very rarely sucks.
i was trying to find their other album, the stone sentinels, because its a bit longer i think, but this will have to do. apparently these 3 dudes all also play in bardo pond, who are also good, but i think alasehir has a better tone. play it loud, try not to drift off too hard.

This is a really spotty album as a whole, but it's still top 10 material, i'd think. I remember sitting in front of my stereo listening to this for almost the whole summer before 7th grade, as well as sucking at skateboarding in my insanely hot garage whilst enjoying this. It's reggae, it's dub, it's punk. My education in reggae, and i hold this album dear to my heart because of it.Pinback-Summer in Abaddon

But first, honorable mentions: Something by Integrity (Seasons in the Size of Days), because they control my life a little, i guess, and I can't stop buying their shit. Desmond Dekker, Toots, Dandy, Laurel Aitken, and the spirit of '69. The motherfucking king, Elvis Presley. Aggro. Explosions for letting me escape everything, always, no matter what. Joy Division. The Specials. A Silver Mt. Zion, because some hearts are true. MUSIC WITH FEELING! The music I've made over the years with people i love and trust. Also talking about music forever with Dr. Mantis Toboggan, The Pocock, and Hordan, because it's important to share it with someone you care about.
In the end, I think it's healthy to hold on to aspects of the past, whether good or bad, whether music or not. Nostalgia. Take from experiences and grow from them. Hold onto memories that will keep you looking forward and keeping your head up. Hold onto memories that make you sick to think about and overcome them. Don't forget where you came from and what got you there. It's good to remember, and I like remembering. I haven't lived long, but I do know this part of me will always be intact. But without further rambling, 2010, I say to you, I'm ready for the next step on the ladder that is my life. I'm ready for your shit, so fuck off and help me out with making this a year I'll want to look back on.

one of my favorite CRS7 releases. i love ezras vocals and playing and the songs all sound great. it tends to be faster than CV/LOC, and more straightforward than INDK.
i had this whole mental review planned out that was basically "imagine condensing an 11 minute EITS song in to 2.5 minutes, or think if russian circles wrote songs instead of riffs+atmospheres, and youd have this album" but then i figured out that Russian Circles is Dakota/Dakota with a different drummer. swish!
ill be the first to tell you screamo is not my genre, but these belgian kids rip it up. this album is listed as "skramz, emo violence, post hardcore, and screamo", but im pretty set with just calling it screamo because i dont give a shit. listen to it anyway.
i dont even know what to say about this man. hes found his sound. its a denser theory of machines, its crushingly emotional, it sounds like being completely alone. if i could pick a sound to make when i scream, this would be it. this album sounds so completely and hopelessly desperate there are tears coming out of me. i would kill to run this through my amp right now.
if ISIS and converge gave up and decided that cult of luna is the superior band. the clean vocals are kind of goofy, because theyre dutch, but the growling is distorted and neat.

ahhhhhhh its gr8. im assuming acid crunk as a genre falls somewhere around glitch hop and dubstep-lite (which i just made up). but it sounds real good.
now im bogarting from the tree sounds girl's blog, but this dude is real good at playing guitar and singing at the same time, sometimes very slow. its grand.
oh wow. really good dubstep versions of electric funeral and black sabbath.
pretty cool stuff, like tom waits if tom waits could sing. and all of ASMZ is on the album, in ur background, creatin ur atmospheres.

they sound almost exactly like the ramones, but this is one of my favorite pop punk albums. very, very straightforward.
im hopelessly addicted to ukulele. its less gay than tree sounds, because its a guy singing. SCIENCE.
2-tone ska is one of those things that's great in theory, but in practice is actually pretty bad. But with that being said, The Specials are about the only band that got it right (for the most part).
