I Built the Cross - Bridging the Gap Between Heart and Mind (200)

Guise I swear it's not often that I come across a Christian metal band that plays technical death metal with a side of deathcore. Seriouslyy! Bridging the Gap Between Heart and Mind begins with a narration speaking fighting a guerrilla war, about using the enemies weapons against them. In the case of these guise, that war is with Satan and enemies of Christ. They make no attempt to disguise their faith, and I applaud them for that. On their MySpace page they refer to it first as being a ministry to spread the love and grace that Jesus Christ has shared with us and secondly as a technical death metal band. It takes a lot of guts to do this! I cannot believe it's not more popular with mainstream metal, or metal in general, to be people of faith.

Marina Rosenfeld - Plastic Materials 2009

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

AAAHAHHHRRRRRRNNNNNN

WWWWWWWWWWWWHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAATTTT THEEE FUUUUUUUUCCCCCK

the midpoint between grouper and runhild gammelsæter. and basinski. and what frank poole must have been hearing as his oxygen emptied into space.

"In my imagination, Plastic Materials sounds like an strange autopsy where the deceased is part robot, part creature from another planet and each progressive incision opens new caverns of spiraling innards that are both structurally amazing and kind of freaky. There is even an ever present sterility of steel tables and clean instruments to the whole thing. The album is bizarre in the most fascinating way. Rosenfeld’s doesn’t actually use any knifes in the creation of her work, but still manages her fair share of cutting by the heavy use of turntables and sampled voices (both talking and singing out of tune) cut up with medical precision. In addition to the re-emerging vocals, Rosenfeld has crafted a moody sub-noise aesthetic that incorporates turntable tics and spasms along with other electronic mumbling which flow in and out of piano tinkering and other unidentifiable transmissions."

knifes? if there's a pitchfork review of this album, i dont want to fucking know about it.

give to me your LSD's.

LSD - FB Mix 2010

AAAHHHHHHHH WHAT THE FUUUUUUCK

no tracklist anywhere, it seems, just like the last mix from banguage. i have never heard any of these fucking songs, except the malt liquor remix. its KVLT AND GR1M AND TR00. and its goddamn insane. and interesting. and no messinian! my god it's the triple threat.

also it has a daily supply of crunchy yaii yai yaiiiiiiii's in it. and its short, which is pretty desirable for anyone that's not bassnectar. although i wouldnt mind too much if this was twice as long. it has the most graceful intro to a mix i think ive heard yet.

fucking hell this makes me hungry for a vial.

Tree of Sores - S/T 2011

liiiike....oof. rosetta or mouth of the architect without the post rock? kylesa playing while laying on the floor?

holy shit ive got it: dark castle covering sollubi. its slow and the instruments are lush, but the entire experience is relentless and hollow (in the delay- and reverb-related emotional sense) and desperate and it shifts in and out of being melodic. as intended, hopefully.

masterful pill abuse sludge. or maybe im projecting myself onto their fantastic fucking tone.

fucking dick shit listen to 3:20+ in sandford. actually listen to the whole song to make that part even more retardedly insanely awesome.

even the intro is awesome. it has that slow bass slide that sounds like the one where you mash the base of your palm down on the note and grind down the neck. the one thats not so good for the guitar, but it sounds cool as shit.

Elliott Smith - s/t (1995)

So as of 06/28 I've decided to quit soda. I'm allowing myself one soda a day, and it's killing me. I've been having really bad headaches all day and I've been in a weird mood. All I'm drinking lately is water, and it's weird. I never realized how dependent on Dr. Pepper I am until now. What a bummer.

Smith said that he "personally can't get more dark" than his self-titled album

Now, on to the music. This is music I've been listening to forever, and lately I've been using it to cure my headaches. Every music-literate person should have this in their collection, no matter their genre preference. Absolutely heartbreaking and tear-jerking lyrics and atmosphere. But it's mellow, and almost purely acoustic, so it's good to mellow out with.

sorry for the rant.

Genus Inkasso - Such Sights To Show You 2010

oh my sweet lord this is like satan sitting on your face in the dark and laughing while playing a drum pad with the severed fingers of 100 million condemned children, while he exhales PCP into your nostrils and covers your mouth so you cant scream.

10/10, A++++++ would buy from again.
