La Dispute - Wildlife 2011

it's real good, real sad. real whiny, but not bad.

you and i in unison is real good.

ive recently just been playing this straight through, then playing taake straight through as a breather, then restarting. its...fucking horrifying. ive never been more distraught by lyrics in my life. think defeater but just fucking bleaker than anything.

Tor Lundvall - Empty City 2006

i thought this was up already. one of the very few albums that sounds exactly like its title. some songs feel like looking down on a city from the highest building and seeing no motion aside from driver-less trains, some feel like gazing up through storm drains. the hints of melody (clearing sky) dont really feel like hope, more like an insomniac's lids closing after a long empty night.

either way, most of the spirit in this album is the hum of streetlights and the urban heat island, devoid of life.
