Merchandise - Angels in the Station (2012)

This is a CD-R Merchandise had with them on their recent tour, it contains two new songs which harken back to old punky Merchandise, and then there are alternate versions of a few songs off of Children of Desire, and a rehearsal version of "I Locked the Door", one of my favorite songs off their last lp Sad Songs.

listen.

Helta Skelta - s/t (2012)

What's to explain? Fast, groovy hardcore from Australia. Dual vocals, imagine old youth crew two step beats with mean as fuck vocals, and some fine line regular old punk rock leanings. Weirdo shit.

Check it.

NO SIR I WON'T - NO SIR I WON'T (2012)

NO SIR I WON'T's self titled LP is possibly one of the best "punk" records to come out of the U.S. in the past 10 years. NO SIR I WON'T is a band from Boston and they play awesome, fast, snotty melodic punk rock. To call this band a pop punk band would be stretching it a bit, but there are some awesome catchy riffs. Kind of reminds me of Agent Orange at times.

also i figured out 20 minutes of sleep per night is more than sufficient.

The Men - Open Your Heart 2012

this might not last, and it might be the end of the entire blog. even chelsea emailed me asking for this! eNdTiMeZ!1

listen to the men. dance at the men. give your money to the men.

pitchfork already loves it, and you should too, because its really great fun. and it totally sounds like old foo fighters at the beginning. and a shit ton of it is amazing instrumentals. and if you remember your analogies;

leave home : open your heart :: rohnert park : zoo, with more insane jackie-o-type noodling. kind of. i dunno. i got a similar sense from each transition.

Curious Volume - Mumbles & Whispers 2011

from staten island. sounds EXACTLY like BTMI, or a collision between zebrahead and the flatliners.

but mostly it sounds just like Album Minus Band. which isnt really a problem, if you love album minus band like you should.

Reagan Youth - Youth Anthems for the New Order 1984

original mixing, vastly superior to the rereleased recordings.

What's Johnny doin' out on Tuesday night?
When Johnny can't read and Johnny can't write
Johnny just don't understand

Johnny don't care about this world
As long as he can fuck his girl
And prove that he's a man

Johnny wastes his days, eatin' ludes
He's a teenage vegetable
Getting high proves that he's cool

Johnny hates to think, he's ignorant
He's a mindless brainwashed pig
Ring a bell, he starts to drool

Gallows

GINGER PRIDE. amazing sound, great songwriting, great lyrics, fucking brilliant riffs. so much goddamn fun to listen to. both albums are pretty equally furious, and equally well-written, with grey britain being a little more diverse.

highly recommended.

buuuuump from 6/11/10, because i guess they nuked their ginger and their new song sounds fucking boring, ft. the alexisonfire vocalist and 37 seconds of mehhhhhhh.

Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb 2003

so i refrained from posting this, even longer than ad majorem, for a vast array of reasons. regardless, it's one of the best albums there is. if you havent heard it (you have), know that they cruise smoothly past the major pitfalls of most other bands in the genre (i.e., sounding tonally limited and fucking boring beyond belief) thanks, i think, to kalnoky's pretentious ass and whichever bassist they had at the time. i think 'saddest song' is probably my favorite, after hearing all of this like 50000 fucking times.

1. "Everything Went Numb" 3:29
2. "That'll Be the Day" 4:42
3. "Point/Counterpoint" 5:27
4. "If and When We Rise Again" 4:19
