this may be the beardiest band i know. it sounds like the singers beard is 12 feet long. and that his guitar strings are beards. and before each show the entire band smokes beard hair. and the drums are made from beard skins. and the amps work by channeling frequencies through beard filaments. GOD LUCK, AND GOOOOOD SPEEEEEED.

Kylesa - Spiral Shadow 2010

un. fucking. believable.

its WAY super melodic, and kylesa pulls it off like few can. i am so crushed that i missed seeing them with torche, because that is the closest comparison i can make to their new-ish sound. lots more major key, with a LOT of classic kylesa shit thrown in, and without losing their punch. highly highly highly recommended. a very logical evolution of static tensions.

so...this is unexpected. adult swim, who for all i remember has only produced one other complilation (ghostly swim in 2007, which had tycho and a lot of similar really fucking rad down tempo trip hop), managed to band together isis torche jesu kylesa blacktusk zoroaster red fang pelican withered and more and put out a lot of rare or unreleased material. a lot of the individual songs are already up here in some form or another, but shit like this needs as much exposure as possible. maybe theyll make more.
