Tree Of Sores - A Cry Of Despair EP 2012

so the album followed by the 30 minute song EP made me think of admiral angry. i dont know what it is about 30 minute songs, but i dont remember them too well. i mean, i only know dopesmoker via jerusalem.

but this, moreso than AA's, was really pretty (well...mellifluous) and sounded like a more efficient and sensible version of the album that preceded it. the vocals show up so little as to be nonexistant, and the riffs evolve like SFFS's do. it's not really one song, anyway, there are significant pauses and shifts and stuff...

WHAT THE FUCK IS THE BAND I AM THINKING OF

rosetta without matt weed. falling into if they had kept at it. the production sounds like DSBM, but all of it sounds familiar somehow. its the fucking hollow twang on the guitar tone.

i dont know, if you were scrolling around and recognized the name 'tree of sores', listen to it. if you didnt, listen to it. it's awesome. and super bleak.

5 years of effort on two discs. think echoes of yul with mid to late katatonia and a lot of belong and some place to bury strangers. it reminds me of angelic process in approach, if not consistent tone.

it's beautiful. and suffocating. bloodhail + big gloom + there is no food is just a bleak, bleak trifecta, should you choose to reorder the discs to suit your own drunken purposes.

their 10th and 11th albums.

the reviews of these two are kind of weird. in the pitchfork sense. lots of really hesitant enjoyment.

you can definitely tell that ballads is closer chronologically to flags of the sacred harp/valley of fire than earth sound system is. and guess what? flags of the sacred harp is still one of the most insanely amazing albums there is. i debated bumping that one up again, but then my charts would be wrong. and i debated posting valley of fire, because 'the tree' next to 'we are/chanel zero' is fucking retarded.

but instead, these. here. because ive been rampantly switching back and forth between poppy DnB and psychdrone as i replay STALKER again and again and contemplate the abject moral decay of my life.

also 'the corner' contains the out-of-context lines "i trust you...keep me drunk...i trust you" which i cant stop thinking about.
