Velvet Cacoon - Northsuite 2005

instead of my since-deleted rumination on 9/11 and the rapidly decaying remnants of my worldview, heres a fitting and poorly-encoded version of northsuite. this is one of the few albums that has a moment that i think i hit exactly while listening to. but its a long, pointless description, so just listen to winterglow and stare at the cover art and see what happens.

music for falling buildings, to say the least.

1. Northsuite 11:40
2. Winterglow 8:47
3. Fire Bloomed from Frost 4:45
4. Chapelflames 6:42
5. Salts & Ashes 9:08
6. Bloodscents 9:15
7. Fire Bloomed from Frost (demo) 5:18
8. Dieselflame Novapyre 1892 (demo) 6:11

Final - 3 2006

everything else is stupid.

it's like...tor lundvall, and basinski, and sleep research, and last days, and ben frost, and tim hecker, and jannick schou, and it's better. listen to northpole. i wish i knew such a song existed before using 'polar drone' so callously.

also, by using a colon, its practically >:3

Jasper TX - I'll Be Long Gone Before My Light Reaches You 2005

i cant find the version with the higher VBR bitrate that i have, but it doesnt matter. cant sleep!

diagnosis: spent all day dreaming, all night drinking four loko.

solution: vodka, used as a chaser for eszopiclone. re-brush teeths.

goal: wake up in time to get co-signatory off of bank account/go to pseudo-work.

success rate: PHASE ONE INITIATING HARDCORE. STAY TUNED FOR ME TO WAKE UP AT 5PM TOMORROW.

jasper TX - drone, but quick and active and kind of noisy. like last days. the end of braille has the hollow, spacious piano sound that library tapes use a lot that sounds EXACTLY like my grandpa's player piano from the 40's.

this album is SO. SAD. like, holy shit. last days - sea was about a guy trying to lose himself in the ocean north of england/near jan mayen and finally being rescued in the end and returning to his family. but Dag Rosenqvist (AAARRRGGGHHH HOLY SHIT THAT IS THE BEST NAME I HAVE EVER HEARD) pretty much spells it out in the song titles. i mean, shit's beautiful, but fuck. you can have the warmest tones in the world, its still a fucking requiem.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

1. Blown out to sea, I'm never coming back
2. Braille
3. Letting go (the world is coming to an end)
4. Help them die
5. Rounds
6. My heart is broken, I've lost my way
7. All those broken birds singing Winter into Spring

Velvet Cacoon - P aa opal Poere Pr. 33 2009

blastbeat-free, guest vocalist. its got humming, it sounds like lungfuls of crude oil, it sounds like feeling warm while freezing to death, it sounds like sleeping pills with booze. it is far more hopeless than genevieve.
