The Denver Gentlemen - Introducing...1995

As far as local music goes, this band is a must. Responsible for shaping the "Denver sound" along side bands like 16 Horsepower (which formed after this bands demise) and Devotchka, it is sad to say this is the bands only distributed release. And on top of that, it wasn't released until 2001 nationally. I stumbled upon this piece of musical wonderment some months back and was instantly hooked. It's like listening to a more focussed, ballsier Beirut, without the pretentiousness. It's dark, it's sad, it's everything I could ask for. The vocals are weird and haunting and oddly catchy; definitely a highlight. Check it out, and if you're not hooked by "Little Darlin'," you will be then.
