amazing amazing amazing. pop punk with a lot of folk/math influence.
they sound almost exactly like the ramones, but this is one of my favorite pop punk albums. very, very straightforward.
im hopelessly addicted to ukulele. its less gay than tree sounds, because its a guy singing. SCIENCE.
2-tone ska is one of those things that's great in theory, but in practice is actually pretty bad. But with that being said, The Specials are about the only band that got it right (for the most part).

so i passed out at some point last night, and woke up at 6 with my laptop on me halfway through his biblical lecture. its a very strange, fire and brimstone kind of way to wake up. see for yourself! its a little terrifying, and really hard to follow, but sheshonahim is a reaaaal gr8 song.

oh WOW. its hardcore, but the slower kind, with young widows-y noise rock bits, and they have ballads and trumpets and violin and some girl vocals and its somewhere between crushingly sad and really pissed. it sounds like what i wish fucked up sounded like, because i dont really like fucked up. its very lyrics oriented, so listen to them.
if you like your one man band psychedelic eastern noise drone both noisy and psychedelic, plankton wat is here for you. its very good, very noisy, very pleasant. its a lot like going to a church that you liked going to, but the church is the woods outside portland, and instead of confession you ate a lot of acid, and instead of singing hymns theres a guy with a beard hitting like 12 cymbals right behind your head. AWESOME.
so you know how the monotonix new album sounds like shit, and you cant give it to someone whos never heard them and be like "oh my god the most fun ive ever had at a show" because it just sounds like a retarded noisy shit and not at all like their live show?
both bands fall somewhere between capsule and gaza, but im not totally sure which band does which parts

the title track is the most deeply affecting 9 minutes and 30 seconds i have ever experienced. it is like 9 minutes and 30 seconds of that moment when you get hurt and everything gets blanked out of your head. listen to it at full volume, with nice headphones or a really good bass-y stereo. it sounds like god humming.

if you liked seeing juno the first time, you will probably like this. its a girl and a ukulele and she sings in variable tunings but she makes me feel so retardedly elated to have ears that it would be morally remiss of me not to share. but it really does sound like the moldy peaches or whoever the fuck had something to do with the juno soundtrack, so if you dont like feeling like a big queen i wouldnt recommend it. my favorite thus far is raspberry.
hilarious and brilliant. 101 bands playing ~30 second songs. as always, dillinger four, mad caddies, the descendents, the vandals, nofx, the living end, and frenzal rhomb are fantastic. actually its hard to say there are any lacking songs, because...fuck it, theyre like 30 seconds. the hi-standard song, dieselboy song, and chixdiggit are really cool too. listening to it straight through is really weird though.
the only album that matters. i could write and write and write about this album but none of it would mean anything. it sounds like the apocalypse, and it sounds beautiful, and it sounds like everything i wanted from my life but couldnt find, and it sounds like dreaming of futures that meant something. it sounds like being in love, and dying, and watching yourself plummet and being powerless to stop it. it sounds like finding a savior, and it sounds like overdosing. it sounds like waking up from a nightmare and writing it all down so you never forget.
