So this release is one of the highest charting releases on beatport...thanks to dead mau 5. Beatport sucks so fucking much. $2.50 a song? 18 dollars for ep's? So Skrillex has an interesting style, really gay builds and bridges, mean drops, some of which are so frenetic they make no sense. Collab with Bare Noize, Bare Noize remix and Noisia remix stand out. Avoid: With your Friends and All I Ask of You, boooooooooring.

This guy used to be the frontman of From First to Last, a god awful screamo band and now he has scene hopped to dubstep and got lucky signing onto dead mau 5's record label.

Xasthur/Leviathan - Split 2004

Not enough evil on this blog lately, and it's almost winter/currently is fall, so this is unacceptable.

This is one of the best splits ever, in my opinion. You've got two of the founders of the USBM depressive, one man Black Metal genre on one album making some of the most sorrowful, sad, and beautiful music ever to be put out. Xasthur's side has a couple of repeat songs (which is the norm for him) that make the other versions seem unnecessary. Leviathan's 3 tracks are all new to the album and are equally as great as Xasthur's side. Sounds a lot different from Wrest's other tunes, but it's different in a very good way.

All together, you've got about an hour of the most bleak Black Metal the US has to offer right below. I suggest you get to listenin' and sitting alone in the dark feeling awful about everything, forever.

This is a fairly new band from merry olde England that is really fun. EP came out earlier in the year and it's great. Very much like RVIVR, but English and not quite as polished. Mostly girl vocals, lots of whoa-ohs, one slow song, all sing alongs. Simple, to the point, and it's 4 songs that are free: what excuse do you have to NOT listen? Can't find a RAR file, but their Last FM page has the songs for free download. DO IT TO IT.

YUSSSS. chase and brett fucking rule at black metal. melodic and fluid and very, very beautiful. layered chase guitars, brett's gangliness crushing drums, some noodling, no blastbeat-dependency, and no vocals to distract you. i really wish more bands sounded this interesting.

Kylesa - Spiral Shadow 2010

un. fucking. believable.

its WAY super melodic, and kylesa pulls it off like few can. i am so crushed that i missed seeing them with torche, because that is the closest comparison i can make to their new-ish sound. lots more major key, with a LOT of classic kylesa shit thrown in, and without losing their punch. highly highly highly recommended. a very logical evolution of static tensions.
